This web map application provides residents of Rhode Island the ability to see locations of Leaking Underground Storage Tanks (LUSTs) and risky Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) in an interactive map. Clicking on a dark blue dot gives more specific information on the hazardous locations such as address, date of leak, and population around the area. The 'Info' button on the map reveals the Legend.
The map contains LUST sites that have buffer ranges of 100, 200, 500 meters as well as orange diamonds representing residential facilities including schools, colleges, libraries and hospitals and blue polygons representing important protected wellhead areas and groundwater reservoirs. Users can see how close these Leaking Underground Storage Tanks and Underground Storage Tanks not yet leaking are to these important facilities and water sources.
